I can’t believe it.  Our baby is ten months old.  Ten months is only two months away from a year; from no longer being a baby but a toddler.  WTF.  She has become such a little person since I last wrote.  She is so full of life and has such a dynamic personality – full of funny faces, sticking her tongue out and crawling all over the place.  Pulling herself up chanting “mama” all the time – everything is “mama” — the couch, the walls, her sister, etc.  She says it all the time but I’m not convinced she’s directing it at me just yet.  Does this count as a first word? I have no idea.  She is a very vocal baby, though.  I’m pretty sure once she starts she’s never gonna stop.  (“We caaaaan’t stop, we woooon’t stop…”)

The last couple of months have been filled with milestones for Katherine.  Crawling, two teeth (and about a million more ready to break  through), pulling herself up, big girl baths, first plane ride, eating tons of solid foods.  She loves just about everything we put in front of her and I’m pretty sure she’d graze 24 hours a day if we let her.  Last night she had tilapia for the first time and loved it.  Like, whatever – being all grown up with your taste buds.

First time at the beach.

We just returned home from Michigan about a week ago – my sister graduated magna cum laude from Eastern Michigan University so Katherine and I ventured out to the mitten for a couple of weeks to celebrate.  We had a blast and she was a total rock star on the plane, I shit you not.  I was so, so nervous about flying alone with an infant but she just kicked ass.  She either slept or played with her Mortimer Moose or made friends with the people sitting around us.  We were truly blessed with awesome fellow passengers – we ended up next to a grandma, a full-time nanny, a man with a daughter a few months older than Baby Girl, and on one flight we even ended up with a row to ourselves!

Next up on my list is planning her first birthday party.  I can’t believe how quickly it’s come around.  I feel like I’ve become such a cliche since having a child;  time goes by in a blink.  It seems like yesterday I peed on a stick; hell, it seems like yesterday Corey and I went on our first date.  And here we are, 4.5 years later with a house, two kids and a dog.  It’s insane.  Anywho…birthday party.  I’ve been browsing invitation designs on Shutterfly and hope to get them ordered sometime this week.  So that’s my next big to-do.

Hope you all are well; I promise promise to be better about writing  from now on.  xoxo!

7 (Seven!) Months Old

Wow.  So I haven’t posted since November.  What a giant blogging fail I am.   The good news is I am a better mama than blogger.  Katherine is seven months old now and just kicking ass at life all around.  The first couple of months with her home, and me home were such a blur.  Actually…not a blur.  I remember very vividly the tired, the stress, the not knowing what cry is associated with what need.  Just begging her to talk already and tell me what she wants so I can fix it. I remember everything.

But we have most definitely found a groove.  We have a routine.  And she is such a little person now.  She has this awesome personality bursting through.  She is an extremely happy baby 90% of the time.  Except for teething but really who can blame her?  This past weekend was a teething nightmare hell though.  There’s a tooth on the bottom right side that is just dying to break through and based on the last couple of days I’m guessing that it’s gonna cut any day now (half a year in=expert in everything.)

We spend our days dropping Audrey off at school, then come home and go for a walk around the neighborhood or at the local park (there is a duck pond!).  I try to do 2-3 miles a day and Tosha usually tags along.  I find a freezer meal to throw in the crock pot for dinner that night, hop in the shower and start our day.  Wednesday afternoons we are still going to her Mommy & Me class.  She loves it, I love it.  I have also stepped up my game as far as attending MOMS Club events.  Maybe a couple times a month.  Still not a lot but I like knowing it’s there.  I also make a point of hanging with my sister and nephew and my other stay at home mommy friends.

Katherine’s two favorite contraptions are her Baby Einstein aquarium jumper (I call it her work station) she received for Christmas, and the mat we got for her when she was about three months old.  You can see she thinks they are pretty freaking awesome.

Other than that our days are pretty mellow.  I have to say I am incredibly happy and thankful that I get to stay at home with this little girl and raise her up and watch her grow and learn every single day.  She’s such a joy.  I’m so, so blessed.

In other family news, Audrey has been losing teeth left and right and I’m halfway to a mom-cut (I seriously love it though.  I can’t remember the last time my hair was this healthy.)

That’s it for now!  I promise, promise to be better about keeping everyone up to date again.  XO.

18 Weeks Old.

18 weeks.  I seriously cannot believe it.  Katherine had her 4 month check up on Monday morning.  She got her second round of shots and a clean bill of health.  She cried, hard, for about two minutes, then finished off a bottle and everything was okay again.  Just like with her first series, she slept most of the day and didn’t eat as much, but was back to her normal self by Tuesday afternoon.

She is taking 4-6 oz. each time she eats and has gained a bit of weight (about 3 1/2 pounds) since her last appointment.  No need for rice cereal at this point since she is growing steadily and also has been SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!  We are going on just over a week of solid, uninterrupted sleep for all three of us and let me tell you.  It.  Is.  Awesome.  I think she feels better, too, because every morning when she wakes up (anywhere between 5:30 and 7am) she has nothing but smiles and giggles in store for us.  You can just tell she feels fabulous and is totally ready to start the day.  I just love, love, love spending my days with this little girl.  There’s nothing better.

15 Weeks Old (a week late)

Katherine’s 16 weeks today so I figured I might as well get her 15 week update in.  We laid low last week; all four of us took turns with the same cold this month so we didn’t do a whole lot until we were all feeling better.  We skipped Mommy & Me and just hung out at home most of the time.  Last weekend we ventured out to the local pumpkin patch for a little family adventure.  Katherine slept from the second we got in the car until (I shit you not) the second we got home.

Audrey picked out a big pumpkin for all of us to carve, and a teensy tiny pumpkin for Katherine also.   She went on some rides and fed the petting zoo animals with Daddy.

After the patch, we stopped at McDonald’s for a happy meal.  Because sometimes there’s nothing better than a Saturday afternoon happy meal.  At least when you’re six.

14 Weeks Old

I know I’m late to the game on her 14 week update…Baby Girl has her first cold this week so we have spent most of the last three days cuddled up together on the couch.

Last week was nice.  Katherine and I ran our usual errands.  We skyped with Grandma Christy and Aunt Winnie.  We went to Brett & Lauren’s new house to watch some football.  We visited Heather and Josie on Thursday and attended our first “Mommy & Me” class at the local My Gym on Wednesday afternoon.  I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was excited to give it a go, and I gotta say…I loved it.  It was so nice to meet other new mamas and know I’m not the only one with certain questions or concerns, that I’m not the only one who is super excited that my kid shits on a fairly predictable basis now (every other day).  I was a little wary of the $70/month fee but after checking it out, it is definitely worth it.  Katherine had a great time looking at other babies and pumping her arms and legs and taking in all the new colors and sounds.  I had a great time too.  One mama came up to me and said, “Hi, I’m (I totally forgot her name), have you had your first postpartum period yet?”  This same mama also said “bullshit” twice so I think we may have a connection.  I like mamas like that, the ones that keep it real.  So we are definitely going to stick with it.  We even had a successful tummy time!  Although anything is considered a success compared to last week’s debacle.

Katherine’s also really stepped it up in the interaction department lately.  Like she’s really starting to pull her weight around here and entertain her parents.  Much appreciated, Katherine.  We are getting tons of smiles and coos on a daily basis, it is so awesome.  She has the sweetest disposition, too.  Such a sweet girl.  I love spending my days with her, there’s nothing better.  We have started watching the BabyFirst channel in the mornings.  Sometimes it makes my eyes bleed but she seems to enjoy it so it stays on.  Corey made a nest for her while she was watching the tube the other morning.  Little girl crashed right out.

So that’s it for us over here.  TTFN.  God I’m lame.
