Katherine’s 1st Birthday Party!

30 Jun

We celebrated Katherine’s first birthday this past Saturday.  I can’t believe how fast the time has gone.  In 6 days she will be one!

No birthday theme, just an afternoon full of color and fun and lots of hot dogs and ice cream and cake.  And a bounce house of course.  We had about 45 people in attendance, lots of family and some close friends.  All in all it was a fabulous day!  Kath has been teething lately and has been off for a few weeks sleep-wise (damn you leap 7!) but thankfully she was well-rested for receiving guests.

We did a hot dog bar with all the fixins’, pasta salad and potato salad (courtesy of my mother-in-law), a sundae bar, and delicious cupcakes and sweet treats made by Corey’s cousin.  I think I spent five minutes total talking to people – it’s time consuming hosting these gigs!  But…well worth it.  After all, your baby girl only turns one once!

17 Weeks

12 Mar

How far along: 17 weeks, 1 day
Baby is the size of an: onion.  Or a sweet potato.  Or an iPhone.  You get the idea.
Weight Gain: up 1.5 lbs from last week!  Although it makes sense – my appetite has been back with a vengeance lately.  Yesterday I felt giant pregnant (see photo above).  Not sure if it was the dress or my breakfast, but I was feeling incredibly rotund.  Today…not so much.  So who knows?  I want my bump though!
Maternity clothes: not yet
Stretch marks: nope
Sleep: great over the weekend, but last night I was up from 2:30 until about 6.  Partly because I can’t get comfortable, partly because I can’t shut off my brain.  So…still good, still bad.
Best moment of this week: the weather has been making me extremely happy lately, mid 70’s to 80’s, sunny, a light breeze…I felt summery enough this weekend to Fake Bake and paint my nails! (Shut it.  It’s the little things.)
Miss anything: my people, and Wasis. Also BEER. I have been having dreams about my mom and sister lately.  I think it means we need to reunite (hint, HINT).
Movement: nothing yet
Food cravings: milk, pasta, ooh, and ice cream!  That’s a new one…ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches, it just sounds good.
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope, I’ve been a lucky girl this week!  Wait…I lied.  I got sick twice over the weekend.  Totally forgot about that.
Have you started to show yet: I don’t have a firm bump yet but sometimes I look huge and other times I look exactly the same.  I have no idea.
Gender: I am still thinking boy…couple weeks to go!  I am getting soooooooooooooo impatient!
Labor signs: uhm…no.
Belly button in or out: in
Happy or moody most of the time: STRESSED.  So stressed about moving, and packing, and money, and balancing everything the next couple of weeks.  Don’t get me wrong, I am completely in love with our new house, but the last couple weeks (and the next couple weeks) have me wanting to tear my hair out and sleep and cry all day and just hang out with my dog.  I also think moving is maybe why I miss beer so much right now.  I just want to get in and get settled and start our new life in our fabulous home.  Although, I am not quite sure how to get there (one box at a time is a good place to start, no?)
Looking forward to: PaleyFest this Friday!  Q&A sesh with the cast of “American Horror Story: Asylum”…..SO. STOKED.
